2011 – ActionScript 3, Dynamic Video Streaming with OSMF, Robotlegs
To promote the new Virgin Tivobox we present a series of informative videos to the user, which he can cast votes on (like/dislike). TV and online advertising is directing users to this flash piece, which runs on the Virgin media website as well as on their facebook page.
The flash app is using the Open Source Media Framework (www.osmf.org) to dynamically stream in a set of mp4 videos, which were encoded with a constant bitrate at different quality settings and are served by the communications provider Level 3. The app is scalable to run in both environments, main website and facebook.
The difficulty to overcome with this project was how to compensate for the inaccuracy of streaming the videos when I really needed to send them to exact points in time.
